According to the President of Belarus, the Russian authorities and the military are simply showing that Russia must be reckoned with and that its president should not be insulted and “strangle the Russian language”

The Russian leadership has no desire to “enslave, seize” ; Ukraine, said the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, reports “SB. Belarus Today».

“Believe me, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, the Russian military, they have the desire to seize Ukraine, something else is missing. They simply showed that Russia must be reckoned with. No need to insult the President of Russia. There is no need to stifle the Russian language, which all Ukrainians speak. Even, as some say, nationalistically oriented,— explained Lukashenka.

He added that the main thing for Russia— own security: both Moscow and Minsk need to think about how to prevent a “bridgehead from where an attack could be possible.”

Among the goals of the operation in Ukraine, the Russian authorities name the demilitarization of the neighboring state, its cleansing from “pro-Nazi-minded people”, “deliverance of people from genocide”, the end of the “reckless course” to the complete dominance of the United States and its allies. There is no talk of occupation of Ukrainian territories, Moscow emphasizes.

In April, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the start of the second phase of the operation, during which the military is going to completely take control of the Donbass and the southern part of Ukraine. The Russian armed forces already control a number of territories, including the Kherson region and part of the Zaporozhye region. The pro-Russian authorities appointed there declared their desire to become part of Russia in the future. The Kremlin emphasizes that such issues should be resolved by local residents. The leadership of the DPR and LPR also spoke about the possibility of becoming part of Russia.

After the start of the Russian special operation, Ukraine declared martial law and severed diplomatic relations with Russia.
