Retail inflation based on consumer price index (CPI) fell to 5.91 per cent in March from 6.58 per cent in February, data released by government on Monday showed. In terms of year-on-year basis, the inflation number stood at 2.86 per cent in March 2019.

Retail inflation based on consumer price index (CPI) accelerated to about five-and-half year high of 7.35 per cent in December last year as against 5.54 per cent in November mainly on account of rising vegetable prices, government data showed on Monday. The retail inflation stood at 2.11 per cent in December 2018.
