There is a possibility for a turning point in the conflict in Ukraine, but for this Kyiv needs additional arms supplies from abroad, said President Volodymyr Zelensky. He spoke via video link at the GLOBSEC forum in Bratislava.

Russia launched a military operation on February 24, its goal & mdash; “demilitarization and denazification” Ukraine, its non-nuclear and neutral status. On March 25, the Ministry of Defense announced that, in general, they had completed the main tasks of the first stage of the operation, the combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was “significantly reduced”— this allows “to focus the main efforts on achieving the main goal” liberation of Donbass.

On April 19, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the start of the next stage of the special operation. A few days later, the defense ministry explained that during the second phase, the Russian military plans to take control of the Donbass and the southern part of Ukraine.

The Russian authorities emphasize that the special operation is proceeding according to plan and will end when its main tasks are completed. Moscow condemns the supply of foreign weapons to Ukraine and calls on Western countries to stop providing military assistance to Kyiv if they are interested in resolving the crisis.

Zelensky said in early May that he did not see Moscow's readiness to end the conflict. He called the situation in Donbass at the end of the month very difficult.
